About
About Queen's Square.
A heritage British independent school, founded in Bedfordshire in 1835, and today at the head of a global group of schools.
Our history
During the early nineteenth century, a number of legacies and bequests were made in Bedfordshire to provide school masters and places of learning.
- 1835A fee-paying school for 290 children opens in Church Street, with funds provided by the 2nd Marquess of Bute.
- 1857Having outgrown its premises, the school moves to a new site on Queen Square.
- 2019Queen's Square becomes an international school, at the head of a global group of schools that share its ethos and values.
What we stand for
The principles that guide school life at Queen's Square.
- A secure and happy environment, in which every child can reach their full potential.
- The highest standards of personal and academic achievement.
- Good manners, kindness and an active concern for the needs of others.
- Effort valued as highly as achievement.
- Traditional teaching, blended with modern learning resources.
School life
Every pupil belongs to a house. House points are earned for effort as well as achievement, in lessons and beyond them, and the house competitions run all year.
Sport, music and the arts are part of every week. We believe children need to be good team players, in the classroom and on the sports field, and we encourage this at every level.
The crest
The crest dates back to the school's founding and remains at the heart of Queen's Square. The crown speaks of tradition and service, the gold saltire of steadfastness, and the three wheat sheaves of growth and the nurturing of every child.
Worn on every blazer and jumper, it is a daily reminder of what the school stands for, and the thread that connects every Queen's Square school.
